Est Living: smart interiors for small spaces

Produced in partnership with Est Living.

Compact living is becoming more commonplace the world over, particularly in urban areas. But, how does one maximise small space within modest confines without compromising comfort and quality?

Enlisting the assistance of KING, we delve into smart furniture for small spaces. Focusing on three shared areas of the home, we take a closer look at how to optimise space with a combination of well-chosen furniture, clever storage and a light-hued palette.

Use contrasting colours to create interest, depth and layers. Featured above the Quay Dining Table and Amara Timber Dining Chairs.

The dining space

Expand the feeling of space in the dining area by selecting furniture with a slimline profile and dining chairs that mirror the height of the dining table

The Quay Dining Table in either a powder coat or ceramic finish features extendable functionality from six to eight seats for flexibility. The aluminium frame is also multipurpose – ideal for indoor or outdoor applications. The Amara Timber Dining Chairs in Smoked Oak offer refined simplicity to create a greater sense of space.

The Quay Dining Table paired with the Amara Dining Chairs creates elegant sophistication in the dining space. The Fleur Ottoman and Oliver Tub Chair are also pictured.

Light-hued walls and cabinetry panelling teamed with blonde timber enhance the openness of the open-plan kitchen and dining area.

The Quay Dining Table paired with the Amara Dining Chairs heightens the room with their slimline, low profile.

Large sliding doors assist with increasing the overall footprint of a room while providing a seamless threshold into the garden area — ideal for entertaining larger groups of guests.

Create a statement with colour and occasional furniture including the Oliver Tub Chairs, Crescent Ottoman and Fleur Ottoman.

The living space

A soft-hued colour scheme enhances space in the living area. As does the large timber slider to neatly conceal unused items. Positioning furniture within the centre of the room optimises square footage while ensuring traffic moves around the perimeter – not through the entertaining zone.

The Oliver Tub Chairs with their swivel base allow for seamless and effortless movement. A multi-purpose Zaza three-seater sofa available in a spectrum of premium fabrics or European leather transitions into a single bed for guests. Ottomans and coffee tables are purposefully chosen in circular shapes to soften the living space.

Statement accessories, including the Crescent Ottoman, Apero Side Table and Crescent Coffee Table, create casual sophistication in the living room. The Fleur Ottoman, available in fabric or leather, offers occasional seating without imposing on the overall area.

Minimalist side tables, including the Apero Side Table with its sleek stem and sophisticated glass top, maximise volume in the room.

Outdoor spaces

Courtyard spaces expand a home’s modest footprint by providing an additional living or dining area. The Quay Outdoor Sofa fabricated with a KingCote steel frame and WeatherWeave backing is soft to the touch, yet resistant to the elements—rendering it ideal for the Australian climate.

Removable legs permit the sofa to be easily stored away when not in use.

The Oasis Pedestal Coffee and Side Table paired with the Quay Outdoor Sofa complements the look and finished this small outdoor space.

The Quay Outdoor Sofa and matching armchairs surround the Oasis Pedestal and Side tables. The higher Quay Outdoor Counter Stools offer an alternative option for a smaller zone. The Jasper Sun Lounges are also pictured in the space.

Available in premium bespoke finishes, the Quay Outdoor Counter Stools furnish a tight space with timelessness and sophistication.
